                Choosing environmentally-friendly paper and ink

The paper used to make our books, backing boards and magazines is exclusively made of natural, recyclable fibres, sourced from forests with a sustainable management system. Our paper suppliers also follow a recognised environmental certification process.

                Minimising transportation

We print all our magazines and books either in the UK or Europe*, as closely to distribution points as possible, in order to lessen the product’s journey. We also optimise our packaging to keep transportation volumes to a minimum.
In the USA we strive to publish build instructions as digital downloads to minimise the transportation of magazines.
* Some covermounted products come from China, India or Bangladesh.

                Working towards the best eco-designs

Before launching a new collection, we explore the best way to package the product safely using the minimum packaging necessary in the most environmentally-friendly materials. One of our ongoing projects for our covermounts is to replace plastic with cardboard where possible when packaging our build-up collections.

Delivering copies where they are needed

We are committed to reducing the unnecessary transportation of stock and overstock on the market.

                Managing unsold goods

Today, 85 to 90% of the products that Hachette Partworks distribute are sold. This means we achieve a low return rate of just 10 to 15%.
