In 1989, with the modern DC Universe still reforming following Crisis on Infinite Earths, Keith Giffen, Robert Loren Fleming, and Curt Swan offered a fresh take on Aquaman. Prising off some of the barnacles that had attached to the character, Giffen, Fleming, and Swan streamlined Arthur Curry’s origin and pitched him into a tale of Atlantean war, oppression, and revolt, in The Legend of Aquaman!
